I have some aquaphor from when I worked for a pool company and the chlorine did a number on my hands... I'll let my sisters have it
My tatoo artist suggested that I scrub the heck out of the tattoo with the first shower. This cuts down on scabbing. After that he told me to wrap the area in Saranwrap to keep it dry. Apply Neosporin very lightly, twice daily after that until healed. So far this regime has worked for me.

preventative maintenance. great idea. i never had much scabbing with any of my tattoos, but my sisters might.... how long did you keep it dry b4 applying the neosporin?
Ice, basically after showering, I dried area by patting dry. When fully dried, applied a very light coat of the Neosporin. This has always worked for me. You must keep in mind that the area where the tat is applied also makes a difference. Some areas, such as the really fleshy area are more prone to scab.
Aquaphor is good, and so is a standard A&D. like the guys said, stay away from immersing the tattoo in any water since they will be walking around with open wounds with a foreign substance in it. (sounds kind of crazy when you think about it....

) but they feel so goooooood! haha
