I had been thinking for quite sometime about getting an electric razor to shave my head for quite sometime. Many of you have seen my posts and seen some of the responses that I had received from the major manufacturers. The main response was "We dont recommend/have not tested our products for use for shaving the head".
Financially, paying $8-$12 a week to week and a half to buy a brand new pack of blades for my mach 3 started to get me frustrated. Not too mention the fact that taking 30 minutes to get a clean shave and pulling my wife into it having her help get the back of my head "clean".
So after doing research on foil shavers vs. rotary shavers and price being the #1 factor I decided on the above named razor.
Price = $39.99 at Target
What's Included = Razor, Blade Cover, Charger, Cleaning Brush.
Key Feature = Has three cutting "heads" that rotate and flex to conform to the shape of your head/face. Washable so you can run it under water to clean it up.
First Impression = I hope this thing works! I had to use a **** jackhammer to open the box up but once I got it opened I was pleasently surprised at how lightweight the razor was. I read the manual and it said to fully charge the razor for 8 hours........I charged it for 3 hours then put it to the test.
Shaving = Last night was my normal night to shave anyway so I had a regular bit of "stubble" on my noggin. I turned the razor on and my first thought was this was a pretty quiet machine. I started to shave and didnt feel any pulling or tugging of my stubble. The razor glided smoothly over my head and the three blade heads worked their magic. The tiliting and rotating heads conformed nicely to the top of my head and around the nape of my neck, behind my ears, etc... After I was done I ran my hand over my head and it felt remarkable smooth. Start to finish it took me about 10-15 minutes for a thorough shave. I did rinse with ice cold water afterward...see below for why.
Clean-Up = Once I was all finished I just clicked open the head unit, ran it under water, shook the excess water off and let it dry.
Pro's = Quiet, Quick, Reliable Shave. No more having to buy a new pack of blades every week / week and a half. Smooth Shaver. Very easy to use. No nicks, No cuts. Easy to clean up.
Con's = As with any machine, the unit going over my head and the blades running create friction, which creates heat. About 5 minutes in the heads started to heat up a little which...I wouldnt say irritated my head but left it hot.
Final Thoughts = I think I got the best for my money and something that suited my needs. Granted the electric is not as close a shave as my blade but it is definetly a neck and neck race...Harvick and Martin at Daytona close! I would definetly recomend that if you are thinking of an electric, and cant fork over a $100 for a top of the line one then the 7110x would be the way to go.
