use a good electric shaver, it can only shave with the grain, but its much quicker, cut free, & no need for shaving creams

I am the odd man out here!
2 months and only 2 nicks. May I kneel at your feet and watch you shave so that I may learn?
I thought blood loss was one of the things that set us apart.

Seriously, though, I nicked myself a lot when I started. Styptic pencils, as mentioned prior are great. I don't know if I have it wrong here but, I think, the St. Ives Scrub (I use Equate from WallyWorld) should be used after shaving. I would think that of all the little pieces of ground up apricot shells in the scrub that at least some of them might get lodged in the scalp/hair if used before shaving. Then running the blade over a piece or two of that might cause a problem.
