I'm newly bald and hail from Northern Virginia.

Funny thing about my story.  I'm a big New York Giants fan, and after beating Green bay in the NFC championship i made the comment that should the Giants win the Super Bowl, i would shave my head.  Low and behold they pulled it off and some people with good memories called me on it.  So one night, slightly intoxicated, I went about butchering my head.  Clippers weren't fully charged but I got most of the hair off, then went straight to the razor.  I wore out several blades and cut my dome to shreds.  Finally quit about half way through and went to the barber the next day to finish me off.

I let the hair grow back, but the whole time I thought about how nice it was being bald, but refrained from putting myself through the torture again.  Then, bored last night and through the magic of the internet I stumbled across this site and read the tips/product recomendations etc for a good hour.

Stopped by wal mart this morning looking for some of the products mentioned and wouldn't you know, they had none of it.  i came up with my own concoction with mixed results.

Here is how i went about it.....

Trimmed the hair with clippers

Soaked my head in warm water (per recomendations on this site) and coated with Neutrogena Body Oil  http://www.drugstore.com/qxp16993_333181_sespider/neutrogena/body_oil_fragrance_free.htm

used a Norelco electric razor to get the stubble as close as possible.

Once again soaked head and applied the oil.

Used a Gillette Fusion to shave

Applied Witch Hazel, let dry and applied more body oil.

The electric razor really helped make it easier to shave since i was only shaving fine stubble, but I still have some irritation and a few minor knicks.    I really need a better shaving oil/gel/cream. Of course it could also be that i am a chronic multi stroker, even on my face I'll make way too many passes to get every stubble I feel.  I'm going to go around looking for some of the tried and true products mentioned here.

So thats my story, sorry for the long winded post and hopefully 'll continue to be bald.

Welcome Bingo,

Shaving does get easier as you do it more often and eventually you will find a process and products that suit you.

Keep it up.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, glad to hear it will get easier.  One problem might be I have ungodly thick hair.  I'll give it a fair shot, but i gotta say i do like it.

Indeed the more you shave, the better you become at it, the easier it will be for you and you will get to know and try different products to see which ones work the best for you.

Welcome to the forum mate. Hope you stick around.

I'm relatively new to the shaving game too.

I have a couple of pretty hardcore pictures of cuts that I got from my first few attempts if you're interested  >:D
