Second Attempt with a DE and I'm a Convert
« on: October 06, 2015, 08:38:51 PM »
So I decided to go again with my Merkur HD after watching some YouTube videos, and voila, BBS!  I think the key (for me anyway) is not being afraid of the razor.  Before I was so scared of cutting myself that I cut myself, without cutting the hair.  This time, I just shaved and switched angles/directions, as needed, with positive results.

In total it took me about 40 minutes, but I'm sure that will come down with time.

In Sum:
Merkur HD shorty;
Personna Blue Blade;
Trumper's Lime Shave Cream;
Silver Tip Badger Brush;
Razor Rock and Nivea Balm to Finish

Thanks for the review!  I am considering Safety Razor shaving and trying to learn from first hand experiences.  Glad it's working for you!  O0

Congrats!  It took me about a week to get comfortable with my face shaves and about a month to get comfortable with my head shaves.  Glad it is working for you.

John, everybody is different, but for me the key is choking up on the handle to maintain maximum control. I also find that shaving by feel works best. When I try to use the mirror too much I just get confused.
