So haven't been doing this long, as ya all know. So far, my mom who was against it completely said I would just look like an asian monk and it was a bad idea actually thinks it looks okay. Co Workers are cracking jokes but in seriousness says it doesn't look bad. only one that had any impact on me at all so far is the girlfriend who doesn't like it, though she doesn't make a big deal of it and i only know she dislikes it because i asked. told me it was weird and didnt like it. *shrug* . Just hoping its something she can get used to and doesn't end up growing to be a problem in the future as I really care for her alot and would hate for something as stupid and silly as me not having hair to cause a strain on the relationship. so all in all, pretty okay reactions, nothing too negative.

Everyone is going to get various reactions when they make such a massive change as going from balding to completely sly. That's why the 30-day rule was invented to give not only yourself, but your family and friends time to adjust. Give your girlfriend time to adjust, I'm sure in the end , she will only want what will make you happy. Your sly picture looks great, but if you don't mind me asking, what do you do that forbids the wearing of facial hair? You can't even wear a mustache? Even with no facial hair, you still look great, man!

It's silly really, I'm a Table Games Dealer at a pretty nice casino, make good money ect. But the owner has some very weird dress code policies that are strictly enforced. Hell even the women can not have their hairs in braids at all nothing but red nail polish and only natural hair colors (cant even go like a bright red or burgandy color).
The men can't have long hair, or any facial hair. Which really bites. I can only have short periods of facial hair since it grows fast and thats my weekends or vacation time.

Having been in the military for over 20 years (mostly with the National Guard), I can understand your situation. I liked it when we had six weeks or more between weekend drills, I grew a goatee. I couldn't really experiment with beards until I retired about three years ago.

Having been an Asian Monk I can tell you that it isn't a bad look.  Ha Ha!

But seriously, congrats.  I echo what Sir Harry said about the 30 day rule. 

And while I know that a lot of the guys on the board think that everyone would look better with facial hair; I do not agree.  As a military retiree myself, I appreciate seeing a guy who is clean cut.

I have to agree with the others.  After a few weeks, people adjust to how you look.  Some will never like it, but that doesn't really matter.  After a while, many people (including you!) will forget what you looked like with hair.  I say this from experience - I've had co-workers tell me that they can't recall what I looked like with hair (my company ID now shows me sly, so they lost their reference point!)

oh i plan on going for the 30 days see how i feel by then, already im hooked though so i don't think there's any turning back. I'll probably have a deeper talk with the girlfriend after she's used to me about it. Atleast she doesn't make any smart comments about it or a huge deal outta my head.

Hopefully, the girlfriend comes on board with time.  From what you describe, she seems reasonable enough, so I tend to think she will.

First, you look great!  I think people who take a razor to their head are pretty confident people.  Believe it or not, it takes guts to do what you did.  That said, wear it with pride.  It doesn't matter what anyone but you thinks about it.  Don't ask them, put your chin up and be the bad ass that you are.  Your girlfriend will respect your commitment and if she doesn't get a dog.

I know your feeling since my mom did the same, she said exactly the same as yours.
About your girlfriend, I think you should tell her how much you want to shave your head. She doesn't like it, you may can't change her mind but she can try to accept your desire if she loves you that much and relationship do not depend on a haircut. Just tell her that you really want it, and ask her to accept it.
Wow, a dealer, how nice, I want that job too. Unfortunately, they don't allow people here to open a casino. The government open 1 casino only for foreigners to play, forbid all of us to enter so it's hard to apply a job there also.

My mother actually thought it looked good after I had done the deed, just didn't like the idea ofnit. So wasn't bad. She makes jokes but they are friendly and non hostile. The girlfriend already knows I plan on keeping it like this, I told her I was thinking of keeping it this way from now on. She didn't argue it or object. I mean if there's something about me she hates better a shiny head than something serious right? She's very, very mature. So I like to think she'll grow used to it in time

So that's nice I'm happy to hear that. My friends mostly like my bald head when I shaved mine. The only trouble was my mom, she said the same as yours but in negative ways.

Another couple reactions today at work, I had a manager that just got back from her vacation in Cuba . She asked me if i liked my new hair-do (rather lack of hair) and the elderly couple at my table were so interested in how bald people keep their head so shiny. haha. I told them i didn't really put anything on my head except some lotion, and they were just amazed. I'm guessing with the casino lights above me I must have had quite the shine on my head

Your gf will get used to it. You could even ask her to shave your head for you. Who knows, she may even enjoy it!

I plan to. I did have a serious talk to the girlfriend about it, she said she just doesn't like the feel of it smooth but liked it when my head was 'fuzzy' (i had it at a 00000) so i figure with the grain she'll be fine with.. and its not that big of a deal since I had some really, really nasty razor burn/bumps last night after my shave i think i should just stay with the grain for awhile anyway. nothing really helped relieve the burns or bumps so just going to stick wtg for now. only reason i asked her was because the irritation was so bad i got frustrated and  i told her about my thinning hair being an insecurity ect why i was kinda in an off mood ect.
