Someone thought I was a White Supremacist
« on: July 18, 2015, 05:07:34 PM »
Well, it happened. An audience member at one of my band's shows told me that he was chatting with a couple girls who mentioned they thought I was a white supremacist. Of course, I laughed it off and ended up making friends with them. But still, kinda weird!

To an extent, I could understand why someone might say that: I wear skinny jeans, converse, favor tight white t-shirts, and have plenty of visible tattoos. I have the "Oi punk" look going on... kind of. But if I had hair, no one would have said anything!

Anyway, I still love my shaved head and I ain't changin' that!

Has this happened to you?

It hasn't happened to me, but I know it happened to my cousin.

People that know me, know I hate racism. Some padeople are just always looking for the most negative explanation.

"look, a bald guy! He must be a racist" bleh, that's almost racist (Baldist?) as well, just because of a physical trait, you judge.

I used to wear a bomberjacket when I was younger and still haired, and people would call me racist too. I just liked the camo jackets. Those things are awesome in wintertimes.

I can just imagine the girls' reactions if they had been subjected to the dumb blonde or shallow groupie stereotypes.

I worked my way through Law School by working nights in a Toll Booth on a Toll Road.  In that job I learned that 87% of the American public are terminally STOOOPID!

Hasn't happened to me yet, I think more and more people are getting used to 'us' guys with slick heads! I have had people who think I'm naturally mean (I guess the bald look makes us look intimidating?!?!)

I had a similar thing happen once. I went out wearing a pair of Levi's 501's with a white tee shirt and a Harley Davidson jacket and my mom commented that I looked like I should have a swastika tattooed on the back of my head.
Hair is over rated.
