He's not much older than I am, and being "old" is no excuse for bad behavior. I think too many older people use the "I'm set in my ways" excuse for "I'm a jerk".

P.S. If I still had the same hair "when I graduated" I'd have hair down to my shoulders. What rubbish.

Nick, I think you handled it well. If it was a one time thing, and if it doesn't bother you, I would let it go, but I would limit contact with this guy. If something like this happens again, by the time I'm finished, this guy would be a former employee (if that were me in your shoes)

Well, hopefully he also doesn't believe that black people shouldn't be able to vote and that women shouldn't work outside the home!  But he certainly doesn't sound very open-minded about, well, anything! Oh well...at least you handled it quite well.

I'd say that so far I've handled it well. We work at a Ford dealership and his bay is next to mine, so we aren't going to be able to keep away from one another. Having said that I do realize he didn't mean any harm as we have gotten along just fine for 8.5 years and feel fairly certain that won't change. I chose to post my experience because I wanted to share with others that even though sometimes a line gets crossed it's not always done with malicious intent. I feel like when you come across a person who has different views than you, that in some situations such as this one you have a chance to change a persons view of things through meaningful discussions. I think that can happen in this case. I'll keep everyone posted on how this turns out.

Alright, since i'm from sweden I can relate alot to this. I just became friends with a guy i know, we had seen eacother in school for maybe a year but never really talked and when we were out drinking beer he just looked at me and said "To be honest the first time i saw you i thought you were a skinhead or something". As a socialist being accused of being a nazi bothres me VERY much since I am strongly opposed everytype of facist belief.

Here are some of the things that I did to not be viewed as a nazi. If you own a "Bombarjacka" or something similiar maybe you should think och getting a new jacket. Wearing a fully white shirt? Don't wear it fully buttoned up. Military boots is also something to stay away from.

Oh and how to deal with the idiots calling you a nazi, just go up to them and tell them that you're noting a nazi and that you (hopefully) vote to the left, or that you vote on borgarna. If they don't believe you, f**k em'.
