In winter it is definetely cold in the mornings, much more so after rinsing with cold water. Most days I need to cover my head although I hate to do, specially when freshly shaved.
But it is advisable to always have a cap with you, if you stay outside a lot even the sun in winter can harm your skin, not to tell what can happen in summer.
I apply tons of sunscreen, always carry little samples with me, at least SPF30 if not 50

Yeah...that little bit of hair does make a difference surprisingly. I just wear a cap or or knit hat/beanie when it's really bad out and the wind is blowing. Otherwise my head is OK.

Only bad thing about a knits and beanies is that if you skip a day of shaving putting that hat on our that sandpaper is a PITA.

Lined beanies work best for me because they fit better. I have a fedora too, but don't wear it very often - not enough clearance in the car!
