Sometimes I think instead of shaving the whole thing off give it a little trim . Sometimes it just needs a little maintenance to leave it on. Much better than having to start all over again. Have to admit any time I did a complete shave , wish I hadn't.

Never ever rush into shaving off a beard.  Looks good Beardbald with a trim.

Just about to hit nine months' worth of growth, and the curls have returned.

My head's hair was extremely wavy (to the point that if I did not keep it short or go to great efforts to straighten it, the horseshoe would curl up and give me a Bozo the Clown look) so I am not greatly surprised that the beard has the same characteristics. I just never anticipated curly cheeks or a beard that could tickle my ears.

Someone suggested using a blowdryer to get the hairs to flatten out. Ugh. That was a device I was happy to put down when I picked up the razor and went smooth.

Cave Dweller some may call that wavy, some may call it curly, but most would call it what I do. AWESOME!!!!!!

I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.  I suppose that additional length will eventually add some weight and straighten it out.

Just a quick follow up, I hit that new local barber I spoke of who specializes in beards and it was awesome!  I got a nice shaping, trim, straight razor/hot lather outline, plus got to hangout with a cool like minded person while listening to black sabbath.  All together it took about 40 mins and $15 (counting a $5 tip).  If anyone lives in/near, or travels too, central Florida I HIGHLY suggest making an appointment with Cody at rusty razor barber shop in deland Fl.  He also does full hot lather straight razor head shaves for $18, I just was on my lunch break so I didn't have time

It's always great to find that "right" barber who understands beards.

If mine only charged $18 for a head shave, I would be there at least once a week.

Mine does that to an even greater extent than Cave Dweller's. It's why I never grow it out beyond a couple of inches. Completely out of control, and no, extra length only makes it worse, not better.

Sigh.

And I have no idea why. Back in the last Ice Age when I had hair, it was very fine and very straight.

I can't make up my mind what to do with my beard.  It's been two months since I last posted a pic in this thread.  At that time I was letting it get a little longer.  I got tired of the extra upkeep and trimmed it back around the beginning of April.  Looking back at the older pics it looks longer than I'd remembered.  Initially trimming back was a relief but now I'm starting to get the urge to go longer again.  Maybe in the fall since I don't really want to try and keep a longer beard tidy in the summer.

One positive development is that I finally seem to have gotten past the awkward "patchy grey" stage. My chin is a lot greyer now but it's a lot more even and I think it looks a lot better.

I use a blowdryer on my goatee everyday. Only take a minute, otherwise, I get wild hairs sticking out all over.
Bald by choice, and loving it!

So do I.  It doesn't lay properly if I don't.

I certainly understand that urge to go longer, Razor, but both are great looks for you.
