Title: Ethnicity
Post by: BigKen on October 03, 2016, 07:51:02 PM
I'm very big on multiculturalism and enjoy interacting with and learning from people of different ethnic groups. That's one of the reasons I'm a city guy; I love diversity. :) I'm curious what everyone's ethnicity is here. This is not to be confused with nationality or race. I'm of Nigerian descent. What is your ethnic background if traceable?

Cherokee Indian, Irish, and German.  I think there's some Dutch in there somewhere too, but those 3 are the main contributors.

How coincidental that most of you guys who've replied so far are of Irish descent; I love Irish culture! I'm especially big on the Gaeltacht areas of Donegal and Galway. I jokingly refer to myself as Black Irish when interacting with Irish folks; that's how big I am on the culture. Either I have some ounce of Irish in my blood, or I was Irish in a past life even though there's probably no such thing, hahah.

That's cool you're part Cherokee! I wish I knew more Native Americans. I'm from Massachusetts where the holiday Thanksgiving originated. Even the name Massachusetts is of Native American origin (Algonquian Indian). With all that, I still haven't ran across much Native Americans. I find it very sad. The NA population in the U.S. should be much greater than any other ethnic group in the country. They settled here first and were in America lonngg before anyone else.

I am 50% Irish; 3/8th Scot & 1/8th German and a 5th generation American on my mother's side. My wife is mostly German & English ancestry and 1/8th of "unknown parentage".  That makes our children: 5/16th German; 25% Irish; 3/16th English; 3/16th Scot & 1/16th "unknown".

I've never been good at math, so that's too many numbers for me to analyze hahah. Nevertheless, that's really neat. O0
