Burnt the hell out of my head...in patches?
« on: July 10, 2007, 07:58:33 AM »
I trimmed my head down to zero, as some of ya'll know....and I applied suncreen (I guess unevenly), and I had a good amount of exposure to the sun this weekend.  Friday I kinda had red marks on my head, especially a lot on one side.  Saturday I avoided the sun, and then Sunday I went in the sun for a while, with a shirt covering the burnt part...I guess it didn't help cause my head still managed to get red as hell.

Yesterday I made the mistake of being in the sun for five minutes while smokin a cigarette (with sunscreen).

Well anyway, I got like this really weird red, blotch pattern on my head, especially a lot in this one patch.  But the thing is, its not peeling.  Does it stay red for a few days before it peels?

I mean, it looks strange.  Some A-hole from my gym told me I look like Gorbachev (kinda funny).  Is this a sunburn, or maybe some allergic reaction to something.  What worries me is it hasn't peeled, at all?  I'm gonna stay out of the sun and try to refrain from shaving my head for a couple of days...  Aybody else had a sunburn like this, and it lasted a few days before it started to peel?

Oh yeah, and it doesn't burn when I touch it, and I've been using moisturizer (I stopped yesterday cause I'm trying to get it to peel)

Usually peeling from sunburn won't occur for some days Chico...how about trying some aloe based lotion on the area?

Chico.. kind of the same thing for me. I had a softball games on saturday and sunday.. no hat.. just sunscreen.. 50. reapplied it during the day.. sat. night it was red.. put on some cream on it. sunday same thing .. today I've got some bumps.. cause of alergic reaction to the sun.. after a few days it will go away.. just cream it..

What I've found works best is the green gel from Banana Boat. If I've cooked the cranium that day, I take a cool shower and apply the gel. Re-apply the gel every half hour for a couple hours. I apply about 3-4 more times the next morning as well.

The goal is to prevent peeling.

About the red blotch. It may be an alergic reaction to the sunscreen. In that case apply some benadryl cream to that area. Benadryl cream works good for insect bites and alergic reaction areas.

I have 4 kids so I'm armed with all sorts of stuff.

Good luck.
