Just thought it would be interesting (for myself mostly) to keep track of my beard progress.
I started growing the beard around June 13th. I was already sporting a goetee
The first picture is from June 27th (two weeks).
Second picture is from July 14th.
I think I will keep up with the two week trend and see what works and doesnt until I either get tired of it, or decide Im happy with the results.
So far I havent used any products on it other than normal shampoo/soap.
Any tips or suggestions are always appreciated.

The beard continues to look good. You've got very good coverage, and it works really well with the lack of hair and the glasses.
-
excellent look!

Nice progress!

Looks great!

Looks really good , suits you.

Thanks for the replies.
Ordered some beard balm today. We will see how well that works out.
-
Looks to be coming in well, sir.
-
I agree, it looks good.

Very nice.

Luzca bien. Looks good.

Every one who has replied has either a beard or goatee to go with the bald head. Sign of the times!!

Must be where all the cool cats hang out...lol

Quick update.
Got my beard balm in. First day I used to much and just felt greasy all day (lesson learned). Now Im trying to figure out the amount to use by just using a small dab, and working my way up tell I find that perfect balance to hold these crazy "mind of their own" hairs in place without feeling like I sprayed WD-40 in my beard.
Leaving for California on Wednesday and will be gone for a week and a half. Leaving all form of clippers behind so I wont be tempted to do any trimming.
-
Nice... looking good!

The beard looks good on you.
I had the same feeling after using beard balm, it was too sticky for me. I use the products from Blue Beards Original. Their leave in conditioner makes the beard soft and controllable. http://www.bluebeardsoriginal.com/ (http://www.bluebeardsoriginal.com/)

Looks good brother!

Ksshane, you totally rock the bald and bearded look. How long are you planning on growing you beard?
-
I been growing a beard too.. Had been trimming down tho, but now leaving it to get some length. I bought some beard oil, with lots different oils in it. Unscented too.
Like you, trying to find the correct amount to use, without feel too greasy! :)
-
Yea, still trying to figure out the perfect amount.
Here is a updated picture of me and my son while visiting Chinatown San Francisco. The only trimming I have done since this began is on the mustache. Couldnt stand getting hair in my mouth every time I ate.
The picture was taken on 7/27/14

Looks great! Do you shave the top or is that your natural growth line?
-
Pretty much my natural growth line. Other than I get a few oddly placed hairs on each cheek that I keep shaved off.
-
Outstanding look ksshane, the shades and the nice tan work. How does your son like shaved head?

He seems to like it just fine. But he is at that age he really doesnt care. However I found out that my wife really likes it. The only other time I get that kind of reaction out of her is when I get my lazy but into a gym...lol
So another check mark goes on the ever growing positives for going sly... O0

Good to hear your wife likes it. My GF loves my shaved head, but she has only seen a photo of me with hair. She thinks I can look tough sometimes.
-
You have a good look going there ksshane! Of course I'm partial to a bald head/full beard combo. Those glasses enhance the overall appearance.
-
Looks nice, your beard has great coverage.

Last few days have been really tough. I have been fighting the urge to just trim it all back down.
The side burns just have a mind of their own and are driving me nuts. I have had to start using hair products to get the sides to stay down some what. Beard balm doesnt do anything for it.
-
Th sides will lay down better with length - a blow dryer may help as well after showering. I sometimes use a little hair spray on the sides when they get out of control.
-
I use a blowdryer on my goatee everyday. It would be out of control without it. When visitors use my bathroom, I usually get the question "why do you have a blowdryer?".
IMHO, Shane, I liked your beard when it was shorter, but that is just me.
-
I have been sporting a full beard now for over 6 months. But I keep it trimmed very short. I trim it down once a week and shave the edges. I leave the mustache and lip beard longer than the rest of the beard. That way I have full coverage but no "straggly" look. My beard is "salt and pepper" and I think that it looks better that way.

Thank you for your honesty. I am leaning more that way as well.

There is a product called SilkWorks that softens the beard and makes it more manageable. A few drops are all it takes. I don't care for the scent but it does a good job at calming the beard down when you're trying to go longer.
Ksshane, your beard looks great. It's hard to be patient during growing-out phases. Anytime you are tempted to trim, remember the 48 hour rule. If you still want to trim after 48 hours, go for it.
-
I tend to keep my beard trimmed reasonably short but I do think your fuller one looks great. Heed RazorX's words.

Take a look at my 3 week gootee. Keep or lose?
