I too use Nivea Sensitive Gel, for both face and head. Works a treat, and excellent value for money. Have tried other gels and foams but, for my skin, nothing beats Nivea.

I am thinking of buying a shaving brush and also some of that classic shaving cream that comes in a tub from Taylor of Old Bond Street.

I'm fixin' to grab my ol' shavin' mug and enjoy a shave right after the basketball game...nothin' like the feel of a soapy badger on the dome.

I've heard it's more economical as well. A small dab of good cream with a badger brush can get your entire head and face.

Indeed it is. Cup soap lasts a long time and if you use it up you can grab a bar of soap to make due until you restock.

I just wanted to thank all the great responders in this thread. I'm a new member and got a lot of great information here today. I also wanted to check and see if the picture I used showed up. Now I have to go by a few things to make that dome look better. Thanks again.

Bald Guyz Clear Gel wins hands down for me.

Same here! That's all I seem to be using these days.

It's amazing how much a shaving brush can take a ordinary shave with the same cream and razor and make it a much better shave. I just bought some of the cream I talked about in a previous post and I can't wait until that arrives.

Agree, the shaving brush makes a world of difference. Nice lather. Nice re-lather. And feels good on the noggin. Next best thing to rubbing a smooth dome.

Just had my first shave using Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream. All I can say is WOW!

I intentionally used a dull razor to see what would happen. Because of the dullness of the razor, I still got shave bumps/irritation on my neck, but the closeness of the shave on my face and head are unbelievable compared to the Nivea shave gel. I'm betting I did a solid job of lathering the cream for my first time, as well. I can't wait to try a new, sharp cartridge tomorrow.

I've used the King of Shaves (www.shave.com) stuff before... both the alphagel (I'm the alpha dog... I'm the alpha dog) and the shaving oil.  Good stuff and you can pick it up at Target/Walmart/Walgreens, etc...

I've abandoned shaving cream for good after trying Alphagel, much closer shave and I can see what I'm doing at all times.

since I do wetshaving I prefer a shave gel because you can use any kind of shave gel and and make a fresh shaving lather using the wetshaving method but I use HeadSlick for my shave gel!
