Hello Dad!
« on: June 03, 2017, 10:26:12 PM »
Some time ago, I posted that I had found my father's Old Spice shaving mug and was using it.

Tonight, I cleaned out my late father's jewelry box my mother gave me this week. Among the things he kept were his bow tie and cummerbund from his wedding, the cufflinks and tie bar he and his rock hound father made, the letter from his high school jacket and the Barlow pocket knife I gave him when I was 7 to match the one first one I bought for myself.

This has been a great evening of memories!

Great stuff, Tom! I take it that the children in the pictures are you and your sisters with your mom on top? Nonetheless, thanks for sharing a great story and a part of your life with us.

My father died when I was 18.  My first marriage was at 26.  When I met my second husband (through SBG), my mother gifted my father's cufflinks and ties to my husband.  (The first was a youthful mistake.)

It meant so much to him, and to me.

@Cave Dweller That's such an awesome experience to get to open your late father's jewelry box.
