Any Star Wars fans on SBG?  Are you excited for the upcoming movie?

I am a fan and definitely excited!!!

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

In some ways I am, but my excitement is dampened by two things:

- I sill hate what JJ did to the franchise-formerly-known-as-Star Trek and is now ruined beyond all hope

- All the excessive merchandising is turning me off -- Stars Wars Soup? Really? What's next? Star Wars condoms?

I'm more excited than I expected myself to be. I still remember seeing the very first Star Wars commercials on television, collecting the very first action figures, etc.
I don't like what JJ Abrams turned Star Trek into, but from what he's said, I think that he has learned some lessons and is being more respectful of the source material here.

Very excited. Star Wars hit when I was six so it was my childhood.

I saw the first (now fourth) on the second day of its release when I was fifteen. I had no idea what it was about, but a friend of my father had received four tickets he was not going to use, so he gave them to us.

The theater had a huge screen, so that first empire ship coming from the top of the screen really felt as if it was coming over us. I still have the premiere program from that night.

My eldest will be attending the midnight showing tonight. Half my office is down right giddy about it today.

Star Wars; "Meh"!

As cinema, it is O.K.  As Science Fiction literature it may be one level above "Indiana Jones" but I think it is second rate when compared to stories like "Dune" or "Starship Troopers;  (Although the film versions of both were very disappointing)

What I find incredulous, (and downright scary), is how so many people can treat it as some kind of "religion" or "deep philosophical truth"!  It is lightweight storytelling/entertainment at best; nothing more.

Yesterday's Star Ledger (Newark, NJ) had a good column that graded all the Star Wars movies.   Here's the link:

I finally saw Episode VII the night before last. As a Star Wars fan since 1977, I will just say that I loved The Force Awakens!

I enjoyed the original trio but, frankly, I don't seem as interested now as I was then. I'll probably wait until it's available on iTunes before I bother with it.

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it as much as I did the original, 1977 release.
