Title: Breakfast cereal.....
Post by: Timmay on April 17, 2008, 09:35:37 PM
I know a lot of you probably dont eat any of this junk...because most of you are older than I am.  What is your favorite "Kid" cereal?  I have two actually, but I very seldomly eat them for breakfast...usually for a snack, like right now..lol  I just finished off a bowl of one my favorites....Cocoa Pebbles.  Another one of my favorites is Cap'n Crunch Berries.....mmmm yeah...

So what is your favorite?

For me, smkoing a bowl has an entirely different meaning.

Well, having a 7 & 9 year old, our pantry has it's fair share of kids' cereals. Gotta admit, the sweet cereals are good every once in a while. Although there's a lot of new stuff out there, can't beat Kellogg's Frosted Flakes. As Tony the Tiger says, They're Grrrrrrrreat!!!

On a side note, the Lovely Mrs. Schro used to work for Quaker Oats in their Cedar Rapids plant in Quality Assurance. You knew when they were making cereals. She said the Captain Crunch Peanut Butter Cereal made the plant smell awesome.

Quaker Oats! If you took a piece of paper and ate it you would get the same effect. No flavor whatsoever. My favorites are Cheerios, honey nut and plain, without milk of course, Frosted flakes,Captain Crunch,Lucky Charms, trix, fruit loops and most of the other kids cereals.

Quaker was the name of the company she worked for. The plant there would make all sorts of different cereals (all Cap. Crunch, Quaker Squares, Quaker Oat Bran), just re-tool the manufacturing process for whatever you're making that day.

Pianoman...just plain cap'n crunch or with crunch berries?  I loved it when they just made crunch berry cereal....it was a limited time...but I think we bought like 5 or 6 boxes when they had them for sale...

Can't beat Sugar Pops in my book for a "kids" type cereal.  Otherwise it is good old Raisin Bran or Cheerios.

I like honeycomb and frosted flakes as far as "sweetened" cereals go but my favorites are Crispix and the various Chex cereals.

I must admit, I have bought cereal based on the prize inside.

Being a big fan of cinnamon my faves are Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the Frostd Mini Wheats in Cinnamon Streusel. I sprinkle extra Splenda upon these before soaking them with half and half because at my age one must watch one's calories.

OK...so do any of you eat cereal for a snack and not for breakfast??
Are you a left hander or a right hander....on holding the spoon.
Do you slurp your milk from the spoon as you take a bite..or are you more quiet?  I will have to answer both of these...

1...i very seldom eat cereal for breakfast...always a late night snack.

I eat with my right hand...and I DO SLURP my milk from the spoon when i take a bite.

Cereal is just for breakfast with me.  I don't slurp the milk from the spoon, but I love drinking the milk from the bowl.  YUM.

cereal is for anytime of day(dry or with milk), I'm a lefty, slurping from the spoon is required, and drinking the sugared up milk form the bowl is another requirement.

Lucky Charms... but I hate all the psychedlic marshmallows they have.  Give me the basic 4 -- pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers.  I hope that's right... those were the 4 original ones?  Right?  Anyone?  Anyone?

Stu, I think you're right, if I recall the old TV commercial with the leprichan.  But for me, the marshmallows are the best part.  Hey we can split a box.  I'll take the marshmallow and you can have all the other "stuff". ;D

I am a die hard classic Monster cereal fan... Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry, and Fruit Brute (Who was later replaced by Yummy Mummy) were the best ever. I still indulge in the occasional bowl of Count Chocula or Frankenberry though Boo Berry is tough to find these days.  :@`

I'm getting a diabetic coma just reading all the sugar-laden cereals you guys consume for breakfast.
I usually just have a bowl of Maypo and a banana.

Small world isn't it! That's "my" favorite breakfast cereal too. I like to snack on Cheerios. And I also like Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds.

I love Cap'n Crunch with Berries.  I also love Grape Nuts and Granola.  My mom would actually prefer to buy me Cap'n Crunch because I'd eat the whole box of granola and it cost twice the price of Cap'n Crunch for half the amount.

Shinehead, I am in total agreement with Boo Berry. I was addicted to that stuff when I was younger. The local wally world came out with some about 5 years back and I had to buy the 4 boxes on the shelf. I had a sugar high for 2 months  :)
Oh, I also use to eat Sugar Smacks.... with the frog on the box, they were like Cracker Jacks!

I don't do cereal anymore, but after this post I might go try to find a box!!  O0

Do you prefer one type of Lucky Charm marshmallow bit to another?
A new study shows that your favorite Lucky Charms marshmallow bit shape reflects the kind of person you are!

(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wackypackages.org%2Frealproductsscans%2F2005%2Fluckycharms.jpg&hash=81a99990693910fb969f6a09c2e3baac18e1cd37)

If your favorite Lucky Charms marshmallow shape is the green clover, you're a happy-go-lucky type. You don't take anything too seriously and always manage to have a good time, even if you have someone else with you. You don't have any patience with depressed people and tend to sit on them until they cheer up.

If your favorite marhmallow shape is the blue diamond, your thoughts are mostly about what you'll get later. "If she really enjoys this, will she buy me that Rolex or BMW?" is probably what's going through your mind. People who like blue diamonds have a notebook of preprinted fill-in-the-blank alimony suit forms.

If your favorite shape is the orange star, you expect to be the center of attention. You expect your partner to spend most of his time pleasing you and when you do something for her, you expect applause.

If you like pink hearts, you're the romantic type. You like your partner to whisper romantic phrases into your ear and, if she's too distracted to form coherent phrases, you'll settle for romantic syllables. People who like pink hearts read most of the romance novels published and are turned on by people wearing armor.

If purple horseshoes are your thing, your tastes are modern, uninhibited, and somewhat warped. You like variety, especially when you can include chains, swingsets, and chocolate pudding. Be careful when going out on a picnic with anyone who likes purple horseshoes--she's likely to pin you down with croquet hoops when you're not looking and who knows what could happen next?

If you're the yellow moon type, you're more interested in satisfying your partner's needs than your own. You prefer to lie back and wait for your partner to express her needs verbally or nonverbally. People who like yellow moons usually own several pairs of handcuffs just in case someone should ever want to tie them up.

People who prefer the little oat bits usually become accountants, librarians who work at the reference desk, or government employees; these people like to chow down on a big bowl brimming with oat bits before a tough day of protesting suggestive lyrics in rock music. People who like oat bits have more time to spend writing letters to the editor than any other type.
