Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera
« on: February 14, 2014, 05:17:55 AM »
I am after some Witch Hazel and some Aloe Vera.

Which brands do you recommend? Can they be bought in the same mixture or is it ok to mix them together after a shave?

Thanks

I use T.N Dickinson witch hazel and fruit of the earth Aloe Vera Gel. After I shave, I splash my head with the witch hazel, let it dry and apply the aloe gel which I mix with tea tre oil.

I buy the cheap stuff at Walmart, then mix all 3 together in a pump bottle. About 85% witch hazel, 15% aloe, and about 12 drops of TT oil.

Yes, I usually use my Remington foil shaver, but sometime will use a razor. I can only use a razor after 2 or 3 days growth, but I hate the sandpaper feel, and I use the electric daily. I never get irritation, and as you can see, it gets it almost razor smooth.

Thanks Red. I just started to use a foil shaver (Braun 340s-4) and very impressed so far.

Just got to find those creams etc here in the UK now!

When you say 'almost razor smooth' how smooth do you get it as it looks really smooth!

@Koolpc:  I use the TN Dickinson's Witch Hazel.  I place mine in the refrigerator for that added cool burst.  Feels great on a freshly shaven face and dome.

Koolpc, I think you would be surprised how smooth the electric gets it. If I shave really close with a razor, I can start to feel growth in about 8 hours, with the electric, I will feel growth in about 6 hours.

I use Thayers Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Aloe.  It is odourless, however it is not a gel like some aloe vera lotions.  This is an American brand and may be hard to get outide the USA.

Currently I'm using Thayer's Lavender.

I'll have to try putting it in the fridge.  8)
