At the very least, I use traditional aftershave or alcohol...If time permits, I will wash my scalp with Noxzema just to clear the pores and some aloe vera gel. For additional shine, I slap on some Vitalis.

aloe vera seems to reduce the irritation. 

also using rubbin acholol on my neck cleans my neck, but i can stand tha STING!!!!!!!  !

Cold rinse, witch hazel rub followed by a application of double strengh aloe vera gell works for me
