Saw a man running
« on: September 04, 2012, 01:00:53 PM »
I saw a man running today.  When he was finished he told me he ran about 3 miles.

I saw a girl swimming today. When she was done she told me she had done 25 laps.

I read a post about running and swimming and when I was finished I was still confused.

I don't get this???  :-\
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

I suspect that only those who have more than 7,000 posts can part the murky mists to decode the messages.

I'm lost.

Ha!  It was pretty funny to see your responses to my post.  You see, I left out a minor detail about this man.  Before I let you know that the detail is I want to talk about what I wrote.

"I saw a man running today.  When he was finished he told me he ran about 3 miles."

That's a pretty bland story.  Who care right?  The guy ran 3 miles...people do that all the time.

Let me add in a little detail to enhance the story:

"I saw a man running today.  When he was finished he told me he ran about 3 miles.  He was trying out his two new prosthetic legs.  He said they felt great, but the left still needed a little tweaking."

Do you see what happened there?  Because this guy overcame the challenge of no legs and was able to run 3 miles, something that is typically just ordinary, now became something much bigger!

Many of the guys that come here are afraid of the challenges that they face in life.  They get frustrated when faced with a challenge.  They feel they are never going be back to the "greatness" they once were.

One of the ways to help conquer the challenges that you face is to understand that each challenge is an opportunity.  A challenge is an opportunity to enhance your story!  It's the opportunity to say I achieved what I achieved despite the challenges I faced.

So next time you are facing a challenge, look at that challenge as an enhancement to your life's story

I was wondering what was going on. I thought it was some sort of game/puzzle to figure out. Thanks for sharing the story behind it Tyler.
