Do you have room for more ink? lol I want to get one on my chest in Irish Ruin for my best friend that passed in 1998. His little brother designed it and already has it. Then I want to put "CASH" in bold black letters on my left wrist (underside) so I can cover it with a watchband if needed. Let us know what you get and where.

BTW-Are the pics on your MySpace page your personal tats? That's some wicked art.

Yeti, with so many tattoos on your body real estate values on your skin must have risen to astronomic heights.
So you should choose your next tattoo carefully ("what" and "where"). And there must be a committee with a board
of directors to discuss the matter in lenght, consider various sites, compatibility with nearby tattoos etc.
What did have in mind (ie what kind of tattoo)?

By the way, now that you've shaved off your goatee, post a new picture, will you? I'm curious...

PS: I am contemplating getting a tattoo as well. But I'm still undecided (it's permanent, it can be expensive etc.)...

I am definitely running out of area for ink thats for sure! hehe Only one decent sized area left would be my right thigh. Everything else is pretty much inked, well and my head, as I stated I don't plan on being the next Bam Bam Bigalo(sp?). hehe Luckily for me, since I live in an area with many highly specialized artists, I have a body full of customized art, no flash here. The pictures on my MySpace are, of course, mine, I am friends with the boys in Slipknot IRL. We are all Iowa born/raised down to earth good ole boys. There might still be a pic or 2 in my pics section of various tats. I was posting on the front page with new ink, but with the limited pic space in that section... I didn't wanna look vain about my art. hehe I have much more than 150 hrs under the gun and over 60 tattoos (many connected right arm fully sleeved and left upper arm sleeve begun). I ended up not getting any ink the other day, but I am tomorrow, Wed @ 3, so I will post a pic after. As far as a pic without my gote..... hrmmm I will think about it, lol I HATE my chin lmao...   ;)

My! You've got A LOT of tattoos, Yeti! ;D

Congrats on your new tattoo, bro! It looks great - I like the font style. It's got something mystic to it, just like the Yeti...

PS: Do you ever get refreshers for these tattoos? Meaning, do you ever have to have them redrawn (outlines) to keep the colours vibrant?
Title: Re: Yeti's next tattoo
Post by: Yeti on October 05, 2006, 10:21:59 AM

If a tattoo heals properly, hence the artist does well, you stay out of the sun, and follow aftercare instructions, you really dont need a "touch up" for at least a decade. The cool thing is you can put lotion on, I prefer Lubriderm, and it will bring the vibrant colors right back out, making a tattoo look brand new, even if it's many years old. Outlines never fade, but colors can years later. In my experience, got my first tattoo in 1989 at Sunset Strip Tattoo in Hollywood, and tons more since, touch ups are only required when a lil dot is accidentally missed during the first session due to all of the ink that doesn't go in the skin and runs. Out of around 65 tattooes, I think I needed 3 touch ups, which artists do for free for life anyway, if it's a quality shop. But, if you go to a different shop for a touch up, they will obviously charge ya. It's pretty taboo to touch someone elses work and highly frowned upon.   ;)

I have 4 right now, on my arms. I ahve BIG plans for much more work. I need to live someplace long enough to establish a relationship with an artist. I have ideas, but I'll never be able to make whats in my head and making it a reality, not to mention affording the work, without an artist who's in it as a project.

(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi115.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fn282%2Fvashjustvash%2Ftat2.jpg&hash=180dc36197654f7768d309747152e7e3106410c9)

It’s all about the pain!

With the cash, sorry bro.  There is not a fix on that.  At least one that I know of, yet.
I live in OK and tat shops were just legalized in OCT.  I recommend establish a good rapport with a superior shop and plan to travel for the ink.  That is how I been setting up the work for my back.

Here's Phase 1 of my new piece just installed last night...4 hours in the chair.  It is a celtic cross design from Pat Fish and Luckyfishart.com and modified and reworked to tie in my celtic band  by Rob Daughaday at Lucky 13 Tattoos in Mooresville, North Carolina...
Once this heals we will go back, refresh the color of the old band, do the shading, and finish the back ground color behind the cross (red).

Check it out fellas!!!

Thanks PigPen and Schro....I will take photos after Phase 2.  That will be a couple of weeks...one, I have to heal, and two I have to save some dough.  I save my change everyday and put in a container in my bathroom on the dresser.  Everyone of my tattoos (4 now) have been paid for with change....well, I roll them and take them to the bank first....

Post by: MC HammerHead on March 01, 2007, 05:46:51 PM
The band at the bottom does.  I have had it for a while.  That's why it looks different to the new ink. We added outline to it all the way around.  The upper part is more on my shoulder so it would have been in my armpit.
The celtic wings under the circle do go a go away underneath.

In Phase 2 we will refresh the band and touch up the color so that it looks like one piece.  The same artist designed the band and these same tattoo artist installed it...he actually came up with the idea of how to connect the two pieces.

Oh, I have more than I can honestly count now, with 1 and 1/2 sleeves and many other areas done hehe

UPDATE On Friday I am getting an awesome right thigh tat (prolly 5 hr setting with my bro Coolaid who does some of the most amazing modern day work. Here is the theme for the tattoo. I believe he is planning on adding a Japanese snake to it also. Totally always wanted this, and after research on this pic, I am stoked of his excitement and ideas...

Hannya

The hannya mask is the vengeful and jealous woman turned demon. Pointed horns, metallic eyes and teeth, and the expression all exhibit the full wrath, anger and resentment of her nature. The origins of hannya masks may have come from early snake masks but most likely the image was taken from painted hand scrolls of stories and legends of the Muromachi period. In fact one of the oldest hannya masks is dated 1558. Of course the most prominent feature is the horns. Even to this day a hand gesture of two index fingers sticking up from a man's forehead is an indication that his wife is mad at him or jealous. There are many variations of hannya masks. The coloring of the face also signifies the degree of passion in the demon's anger. For example, a more reddish color indicates strong resentment and anger and is used in such plays as Dodoji and Kurozuka, whereas a paler color would be more appropriate for Aoi-no-ue. Dodoji is the story of unrequited love between a woman and a priest of Dodoji (temple). She turns into a demonic serpent who wraps her body around the temple bell consuming it and the priest in the process.

It's gonna be sweet! hehe     ~Yeti

While I like the work that my guy did before (another former Jarhead) I am interested to see what your people have in the Celtic knot work.

You won't find much flash, barely any in Outlaw, many magazines, but they are pretty much custom work I'd say 98%, from all artists... You may see some Celtic knots in their portfolio's, otherwise drawn up for others too. They are pretty common tats.

I found a Celtic knot that I liked on the site recommended by Hammer. www.luckyfishart.com It's the Celtic ring of truth, I wanna use it to go around another tat my buddy designed in memory of his brother. His looks like it is chiseled onto a piece of stone. He translated it to Celtic Ruin himself. I wanted the ring of truth around mine to set it apart just a little from his.

sounds cool bro! I've seen some on the stone, engraved, and they look cool. Paul will be here in a couple days and get to pick the brains of my artists for designs. Can't wait to meet em and have some fun. We had a great phone conversation the other day.  O0

Thx, I cannot tell you, 5 hrs done on Friday, about 2 1/2 to go yet... I used a brand new technique for the healing process, which I will divulge soon, since it deserves a thread of it's very own, but it's by FAR the best work on my body, 250+ hrs and 60+ tattooes not including sleeves work hehe It looks simply like a cartoon in the color aspect, Coolaid, my bro and artist who did it, is well known for his coloring. I don;t get color too often, because I have healing issues with the meds I take, BUT I am stoked to say his idea for the healing process seems to have been nothing short of an amazing success. When I get it finished I will get much better picks for you all. Paul can comment on it, when he meets me at the shop Wednesday too, for another irl look opinion hehehe.   ;)  ~Yeti

Meeting SBG Gunny Paul at the tattoo shop tomorrow afternoon. How many sessions did that take?  Looks great.

I still haven't found someone that can do what I want on my shoulder, last place just told me to look on the internet and bring in a picture.   :/O

Looking for something to do with sportbikes, maybe a bike and rider leaned over on a cure.  I've got a picture at home I'm thinking about, but haven't decided yet, I'll post it tonight.

Dude, you're at Bragg right? Ever get up to Mooresville?  Lucky 13 is the place all my work is done and Rob Daughaday is a very strong artist as well as tat guy.  I don't have his number handy but google "Lucky 13 Tattoo"+Mooresville and you will find his number...

Tell him I told you to call.

We got about 7 hours all toll on this piece...4 to do all the black...and then 3 last night to do the color and the shading.

That piece that Yeti just got I think took twice that.

Near Bragg, about 45 mins away.  I'll give him a call when I can get time to do it.

Cool Tats.  Wow.  You got balls.  I only have one that I got at 17.  I'm 44 now and I want to get another one, but I will feel like if I walk into the tattoo parlor everyone will be wondering what this old guy is doing.

I want to get Mickey Mouse on my arm for my upcoming Disney trip.

Very nice work! You're fortunate to have so many talented artists so close.
I know how it goes with the "changing the face hair around" thingy. I usually go with a Goatee in the summer and the full beard in the winter (but unlike you, I haven't had the guts to go clean shaven altogether since I was able to grow facial hair (Which was at about age 18 - If your mug looked like mine, would YOU reveal any more of it than you had to?!?! :P)
And finally, Re: your friendship with Slipknot - very cool. While I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a "maggot," I do have some of their tunes within my MP3 collection, and I stand in awe of Joey Jordison's drumming. Most times when listening to him do his thing, I find myself going "GOD he's fast! How the he(double hockey sticks) does he DO that?!" O:O

Out of interest what do people think of Maori/Polynesian tattoos? I'd love to get a half sleeve one on my left arm , maybe extending onto my left pectoral.
Do you reckon you need to have a bit of Pacific Islander blood in you though to avoid looking like an idiot? I don't think so but have seen some people who it really didn't suit if you know what I mean.

I'd be thinking something like this...

Most of my friends have tribal, though most of them are also Pacific Islander or have spent time in the islands.  If you're going to do it I recommend that you know the meaning of what you are getting.

I agree with Tyler, there is nothing worse than meaningless tribal spaghetti on your arm. I find that Samoan tatau are much less common than Maori designs, and are refreshing to see because they are not so overused. The only tribal I would ever consider getting is the Pe'a which is the traditional Samoan tatau of basically the area shorts would cover, denoting manhood.

In short, be careful what you get, because good tribal is hard to come by, and the more traditional it is, the better, but know your meanings, or you may not wear it well.

Does anyone know of an artist in the U.S. who does the traditional Pe'a?  I have one tattoo that I got from a New Zealander but it is not a full Pe'a.
