Alternatives to shaving???
« on: June 05, 2008, 01:52:59 PM »
I just began shaving my head three days ago (love it!) and I was wondering if there were alternatives to shaving?  I used Nair for men but it broke me out.  I was hoping that there was some type of hair removal that wouldn't irritate my scalp and didn't cost as much as lasering?  Sure would love the extra sleep in the morning.  Thanks for the help guys.

Paul is right. You'll learn to enjoy shaving. The act of self grooming can be very fulfilling. ;D

That would be the holy grail for head shavers.  A product tough enough to take off hair like Nair, but gentle enough to use on your head.

That depends.  If you're black, then you can use Magic Shave, which is like Nair, but made for the scalp.  If you are not black, DO NOT attempt to use this product.

I got a really bad burn on my scalp.  I'd only used it in one spot, on the crown, to test it out.  Burned like hell and got a really ugly scab on it.  This was on a Saturday and I was starting a new job on Monday.  It was really embarrassing showing up the first day at work with a big old nasty scab on my head.

Oster 76 clippers and a #00000 blade will give you such a close cut, it will be as short as shaving with a 5 o'clock shadow.
