New ex HT now sly guy
« on: January 10, 2017, 07:58:18 PM »
Hey guys! New guy here.

I have almost the same story as all the HT guys here and everywhere lol started loosing my hair early 20's, got the strip procedure done at around 25 (while also on rogaine and propecia) Wasn't at all satisfied with the procedure but made the best of it till maybe 5 days ago when I finally shaved my head.

Fears that I had were obviously the scar and shape of my head, but turned out that those were the least of my worries. What looks the worst is the area in which the hairs where actually transplanted! I've shaved twice and it het really red/bloody and bumpy.

I'll post pics so you guys can have a visual but my questions are,

Will skin toughen up?
Has anyone experienced this same problem?
And if so what recommendations/advice do you guys have?

Thanks a lot and love this site !!

welcome mate, I can't really offer much with the HT side of things, It looks a bit like razor rash, which does tend to lessen as your skin gets used to it and your shaving style is refined.  I find shaving in the shower helps, but now I have seriously stuff all hair to shave
God created only a few perfect heads, the rest he covered with hair!

Welcome to the group!

How long after your last procedure did you decide to just shave it? It's a possibility that your scalp may not have healed from the needles or whatever they used to transplant the hair. I would wait at least a week before my next shave just to give the scalp a chance to heal. It really doesn't look that bad, and after a few shaves your skin should toughen up. To be safe, maybe you should clipper shave for a couple of weeks first and then wet shave. Best of luck to you.

First I'd like to thank you guys for the quick responses.
I hope it's just that my sking is not used to shaving up there and eventually toughens up and gets with the program. Lol
My last procedure was a while back in 2011 which is why I found it odd that it got so irritated.
I went against the grain the very first time i shaved and that could've just cut the skin and is still trying to heal. Hopefully it gets better not worse.

Ht guy also. I had a few sessions with a Fraxel laser to smooth out the scars. Donor scars were worse for me. Then after had scalp micro tattooing all over. As in my pic. All scars concealed and shaving looks great.
