Tonight I shaved with a Feather blade for the frst time. OUTSTANDING! A very sharp blade that gave me an outstanding shave. Definetly my new favorite blade.

I agree it's a quality blade. Sharpest in its field.

Finally, I had time today to do The Shave. (8-19-2012)

First, don't judge me on the state of the bathroom tile.

Second, as this was my first DE shave ever, I think it came out very well.  Somewhere between BBS and DFS.  As I am tired of the beard, I shaved it all off.  I had about  4 days growth on the face and on the scalp.  The Merkur Futur is an excellent razor, and the Astra is an excellent blade.  Thanks to Warhawk for the suggestions.

I did a super lather (with help from Badger and Blade's interactive tutorial) with the soaps, and it turned out much better than expected, especially since this is my first time.

Razor: Merkur Futur and Gillette Fusion

Face (at sink)

Razor: Merkur Futur (on setting 1)
Blade: Astra
Soap: super lather with the RazoRock and Castle Forbes (sandalwood and cedarwood)
Shave: 4 pass shave WTG, ATG, XTG
Washed with warm water
Aftershave: Jack Blacks Post Shave Cooling Gel

Head (at sink)

Razor: Gillette Fusion
Soap: the same super lather as the face
Shave: ATG and WTG

I do have one question regarding the DE shave.  How do you guys shave your Adam's apple, and directly under your nose?

I shave my Adam's apple downward away from the beard. As for the moustache area, I just trim and edge with my Andis clippers similar to the way I shape the outline of the beard...If there is too much for me to handle, the barber in training at the barber college 20 minutes away gives me a nice beard trim and shave for $5 (plus tip).

I shave directly under my nose by pushing my nose up (like making a pig nose) and I shave my Adam's apple, well... very carefully, haha.

@MikeKoz13:  Mike... Glad that U had some smooth results on the Feather blade.  I have tried out numerous DE blades and I have not (yet) tried the 3 or 4 Feather blades that are just waiting for my testings.

@DCSlyOne:  Darrell... I shave my Adam's apply cautiously from south to north.

Today is a special SOTD.  It is my birthday.8)

Face (sink)

Razor:  FaTip with Bob's Razor Works (BRW) Bull Mastiff Deluxe Handle
Blade:  Astra SP
Brush: Semogue 620
Soap:  Mike's Natural Soap (Lime)

Dome (shower)

Razor:  Weber DLC

Same blade, brush, soap.

My birthday shave was very relaxing and BBS.  I still experiment with many DE blades and the Astra SP blades are still my favorite.

FaTip (on left) and Weber DLC (on right)

Warhawk, this thread has made me rack my brain trying to find my old Gillette DE, to experiment with. And also I'm asking myself if I got the, "cajones" to shave my head with a DE. Hummmm?

@Slynito:  Wow... let me know when U find your vintage Gillette DE.  Post a pic when U find it so I can identify it.  I am loving my new hobby and would love to give my 2 cents.

@npsbg:  Thanks my friend.

I'll sure post a photo if/when I find it. It's a Gillette with the micrometer knob that adjusts the angle...It was issued when I was in the service in the sixties. Years later I was enlightened about the Schick Injector a more civilized shave...do you have one in your collection?

I shaved late last night (10 PM EST).... just before bed. What a relaxing way to end a LOOOOONG day.

Head (in the shower):

Razor: HeadBlade
Shave Soap : HeadSlick
Brush : Wally World Special

Face (at the sink):

Razor:  Edwin Jagger DE89L
Blade:  Feather
Shave soap:  RazoRock XXX
Brush:  Vulfix 1001
After Shave: Brut After Shave Balm

Outstanding shave. I love the Feather blade! I got the closest shave I've had yet with the DE. Still VERY smooth this AM!

I had a doctor's appointment this morning, so I had some extra time at home and used the DE on my head as well:

Face (at the sink)

Pre-shave oil:  Art of Shaving (unscented)
Cream: HeadSlick
Razor: Merkur
Blade: Astra (Thanks, Warhawk!)
After-Shave: Nivea Sensitive After-shave balm

Head (in the shower)
Wash: Pear's transparent, non-comedigenic soap
Pre-shave oil:  Art of Shaving (unscented)
Cream: HeadSlick
Razor: Merkur
Blade: Astra
Rinse:Cold water
After-Shave: Nivea Sensitive After-shave balm

I'm lovin the smooth results!

It sounds like U got a Gillette Slim Adjustable.  They come in a nickel-plated and black plated handles.  The black handled ones are affectionally called "black beauty".  Also... U might have the Fatboy but I doubt it because the Gillette Fatboys were only made in four years and it is also a more expensive adjustable razor.

Also... I do have the Schick Injector that I purchased for 99 cents on Ebay in good condition.  Again... I hope that U can find it and post up.
