I refuse to let that damn woodpecker bother me!  :x!

On a slightly more serious note, my favorite one has always been:

I refuse to grow up!

For me it's my damn neighbors dog.  NEVER shuts up.  But I will ignore it.

I refuse to allow other people's fears to become my fears, whether its baldness, snakes, or politicians that they disagree with.

I will instead help them overcome their fears, *if they want me to*, so that they can live a happier life.

I will reject the pernicious philosophy of collective guilt.  I will refuse to blame those alive today for the sins of their ancestors, and likewise I will not bear guilt for the sins of my ancestors.

I will instead hold each individual person accountable only for his/her actions, and will take full responsibility for my actions.  God gave up collective guilt over 2000 years ago (see Ezekiel, Chapter 20, Verses 1 - 20).  It's about time we humans did as well.

I can't say anything here that hasn't already been said, I'm actually at a loss for words...

For those of you that are getting to know me, I'm sure you might agree that I am NEVER at a loss for words  ;)

SLY Affirmations (An Individuals Manifesto)
« on: April 08, 2007, 03:06:03 AM »
(Note: Vashs SLY affirmations... Read these out loud, possibly while looking into a mirror)

I refuse to be told what is or is not universally attractive.
I will instead determine for myself what I will look like and seek out others who will accept, appreciate and love me, as me, for me.

I refuse to be SOLD attractiveness.
I will instead choose the products and services that suit my purposes and work well for me.

I refuse to be shamed or guilted by the media into changing my looks.
I will instead find the body, hair, clothing style that best suits me and makes me most comfortable.

I refuse to cling to or chase my inevitably fading youth.
I will instead embrace my age and enjoy the wisdom each year brings.

I refuse to be made uncomfortable by other people.
I will instead luxuriate in the comfort I find within my own skin and will enjoy and draw confidence from the frustration my comfort causes those who would change me.

I refuse to let the superficial judgments of others affect me.
I will instead instead draw confidence from my knowledge of myself and show that to others.

I refuse to accept the labels of society and the individuals that live within it.
I will instead set my own standards for myself and choose who's opinions I will listen to based on my respect for them.

This is my line in the sand. I am an individual. I am my own person.

Accept me, respect me and I'll do the same for you.

Otherwise  Lips Sealed

I am far to busy being SLY to be troubled by your narrow minded low self worth.

I'd liek to see you guys and gals add to the list of affirmations. You all can add your own stuff to this set of mantras... to help it grow. Just post a reply in the same format:

I refuse to _______________________________
I will instead _____________________________

I'd like to see how far these kind of affirmations can go.

WOW DUDE! THAT'S BAD ASS! I DON'T THINK ANYONE WOULD BE ABLE TO ADD ANYTHING MORE, TO SUCH A PERFECT POST!

All of you are wonderful individuals.  I wish I was able to say that about many of the people I work with as a teacher.

I am a new member and will be adding pictures and comments soon.  Your support on so many things besides the shaved by choice look makes me proud to contribute a donation, which I will after the summer when I get back to work.

Stay just the way you are...all of you seem like a family.

Thanks Steve!  Welcome to SBG and we look forward to your interaction with us.  Make sure you post up an introduction so that we can learn more about you.

This is such a great thread. Let me add one more little gem that really is spectacular when you think about it (and put it into use on the street).

It was originally coined by Dog Brother Marc "Crafty Dog" Denny. http://bit.ly/alYLaJ

I refuse to engage in wishful thinking.

I will instead embrace reality and accept that sometimes the change must come from me.

I will learn to be happy with my own bald head by not comparing my head to or being envious of others' heads....though I do reserve the right to admire and compliment others on their bald heads

I refuse to be sucked into the drama of what YOU think is important.  The only opinions of me that matter are those of the people who matter to me.
