Adjustable Cap Sunburn
« on: May 18, 2012, 07:01:07 AM »
To my fellow SBGs: remember to use sunscreen even when wearing a cap.

Last weekend, I was wearing an adjustable cap to protect my head while working outside.  Well I got a sunburn where the cap is cut out for the adjustable strap and now have a noticably darker half-moon-shaped spot on the back of my head!

Excellent tip. Sorry you had to find out the hard way... In the meantime, just tell people the symbol means you are one of the chosen ones.  ;D

Sorry about your experience....I personally wear fitted caps, though the nape of the neck might be slightly exposed; I do apply sunscreen there, however....

I apply sunscreen to my entire head and face and then wear a do-rag. I'm good to go.

I have a large skull. those caps don't expand large enough to fit.  I never wear them.  I have a nice aussie hat from Henschel hats which comes in multiple larger sizes, XL XXL XXXL.  Now there's a hat that fits. Wide brim. keeps the sun off.

One year I had tan/burn lines from my fitted hat and sunglasses. I was doing hay for a few days solid out in the hot sun all day. When I was done, I had a perfect line where my hat was, above was light and below was dark, then combine that with raccoon eyes from the shades- not a good look

I always make sure that I at least use a moisturizer with sunscreen now so that i have some protection all the time. otherwise, i'm always looking for the shade. My forehead is actually always the first to burn.
