cost
« on: August 17, 2013, 12:55:58 AM »
I have alopecia areata and hair programs were costing at least $2000 (two thousand dollars) a year when you factor in visits to maintain the look ($70.00 a pop) + tape. Prob a bit more than that actually because when a hair program starts to break down they need to be sent away for a fix. You need 2 going so they can be rotated.

You work it out - unfortunately it took me a long time to.

The reduced cost is not the only advantage but it is one wouldn't you think?

I will never get tired of thanking SBG as I was so stuck in that vicious circle, believing hair was what made the world turn.

Cheers everyone - 50plus

Good thinking, and money management.  Probably looks good, too. Post a pix.  Stick around, and encourage others.

I hope that you enjoy the new look as well the time and money you'll be saving not having to maintain the hair pieces.
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

What a great story, 50plus.

Every time I read a story like yours, I am very grateful I did not slip into the hair "restoration" trap when my little brother in my fraternity tried to get me to join Hair Club For Men.

Congratulations on getting out!

Congrats of being "free of the system" 50plus!

I know the feeling, in fact I was looking at pictures of my (much) younger self this weekend and was like 'whoa...wait... I had all that hair?!?"

Now I don't, so I shrugged and moved on with my day.

The cost savings and the amazing feeling are both worth it, IMHO.

The financial costs are significant, as are the emotional costs. I flew from California to Canada to meet with a hair transplant surgeon and was tempted by the hair systems. Years of rogain and propecia were expensive.  The worse part was a feeling of inadequacy and lack of confidence. By shaving your head you save money, gain confidence, rid yourself of insecurity, and can put aside the distraction of finding a "solution" to balding.

Wow - I have a real resentment toward Hair Club for Men and other products and organizations that prey on men's insecurities and whose advertisements claim men can't look good or feel good or be successful without a full head of hair. Really ticks me off.

Since joining here I see more ads for hair transplants and the like. I assume the cookies direct the ads to me. Never been tempted and as I've said before my hair or lack of it doesn't define me. I'm sure I'd be just as unsuccessful in life if I had hair! :*))
