Out of Shower Shaving Specialists Needed
« on: April 25, 2017, 02:36:48 PM »
Hey all,

So I have been a shower shaver for basically since I went bald.   I will be going on a river cruise and will not have access to a ton of water to shave like I normally do in the shower.    So I need tips, should I use oil based, gel etc out of the shower or should I buy a electric and keep it stubbly?    I know this seems kind of silly but I would rather hear from the pros than go out and test a bunch of junk on my head in the sink.

Any advice would be great thank you,

Cheers

How many days will you be on the boat?  If not too long, then I would just skip shaving.  A cheap electric would be my next option.  But, if you really want to keep it smooth, you can shave with a small amount of water.  Jut be prepared, it will be more difficult without the help of the shower moisturizing your scalp.

I'd reccomend showering, fill the sink and shave as usual. I occasionally shave at the sink and find I get the same results as in the shower.

Frankly I have never shaved in the shower and have been shaving head for many years.  Use sink and keep head moist and lathed,  shave largely by feel.

You can get a good shave using the sink.  No need to look for a different razor or shaving cream.  Just get your scalp wet, lather up and make sure to keep the lather moist.

if you decide to pick up an electric shaver it's worth noting that the top end foil shavers  can get incredibly close these days. I.e. the Panasonic arc 5 or braun 7 series or above

to the point where it's almost as smooth as a blade..but not quite

I currently use an inexpensive Remington wet/dry shaver and Cremo.

I wet my head, wet the Cremo, lather up my cranium and keep the shaver wet by running it under the faucet. I use little water and I get a decent result.

Not perfect, I"ll admit because there must be something better, faster smoother etc, but for now it is just fine.

Shaving in the  shower is potentially a waste of water. Use the sink and if you don't  want to clog the drain use a bowl in the sink.  Gives just as good a shave.
