The other day my wife pulled a fast one on me that I figured I should warn all guys about.
Here's how it played out:
My wife and I were visiting my parents for Christmas and she wanted to hit the after Christmas sale at ShopKo because all of the Christmas decorations were going to be 70% off. Knowing that she likes this stuff and it would save me money for next year, I agreed to not only let her go, but actually go with her since she really didn't know how to get to the store from my parent's house. So, December 26th came around and it was time for us to go off to the store. I gladly jumped in the car with her and drove her to the ShopKo. We went in there and spent about 1 and a half hours looking at the Christmas stuff and putting it in the cart. Though, I had to throw in a couple of warnings to let her know that due to the rocking horse and set of golf clubs that my dad bought my daughter we weren't going to have too much room left in the truck. Overall, my wife did really well in being highly selective in what she put in the cart. We were able to make it out of the store spending less that $100, I was happy. We got in the car to drive home and here's where the craftiness began.
As we got about a mile down the road, she conveniently brought up that we should have bought a new DVD release that we could watch with the family that evening. Now, we were already on a path away from ShopKo, which happened to have the DVD we could have purchased, and it was more difficult to turn around than to just head to another store. I'm pretty sure she was fully aware of this since it was about another 1/2 mile before there was a place for us to turn around. Being that I was still half asleep and not thinking, I agreed that it was a great idea that we should get a DVD and then took her suggestion to hit Target on the way home to pick up the DVD.
This all sounded like a great idea until we got into Target and the first think my wife said was, "you go grab the DVD and I'm going to check out the Christmas section." I knew I had been played! How could I have been so gullible? One hour and another $50 later we were finally leaving Target.
Alright guys, now you have been warned of the "Sneaky Second Store Shopping Trick" that women will use to get you to a second store when they don't find everything they need in the first. Be careful not to follow my example and get trapped by this trick!
Do any of you have a trick that you can warn us guys abou?
