Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading into the doctor for my annual physical. I got to chatting with the nurse and she started congratulating me on making the decision to come into get a physical, especially being only 30 years old. I thought "wow, this is an odd thing to congratulate a guy on," so I went ahead and said, "I thought that's the thing you're supposed to do when you turn 30." She then proceeded to tell me that it IS the thing that people are supposed to do when they turn 30, but that men in general tend to ignore this point and will wait until they are sick to come in.
Because of this new found information, I'm writing this post to beg all of you that are 30 or older to go in and get a physical, ASAP! Seriously, stop reading this and call your doctor! Don't have a doctor? Call a friend and find out who they go to. The point is for you to go!
Why is it so important for you to start getting a physical? The main reason is that it will help the doctors prevent you from getting sick. There are tell tell signs that your health is deteriorating that the doctor will see. Things like rising blood pressure, rising cholesterol, rising weight, and various other things that may be there but may not make you "feel" sick. Detecting these things early can not only keep you from getting really sick, but it could detect something even more serious in the early stages. One of these things could be a potential heart attack, diabeties, or heart disease. Obviously these are things you don't want to have as a young or old guy.
Another thing that my doctor discussed with me yesterday is the rising cases of testicular cancer in younger men. That's right! Cancer on your nuts! Not a good thing...really! So guys, please, please put whatever it is that is preventing you from going to the doctor aside and go to the doctor! You never know, he or she might just have a nurse like the one above
One more thing. I've included a very good video for you to watch for being such a good guy and sticking around to read this post. Once you are done with the video, get off your computer and call your doctor!
Today, one of our forum members submited a linkto a post at DoubleViking.com that outlines their thoughts on the 15 most badass bald guys. All of the badasses that they outline are really characters from movies, tv, or video games. Guys like John McClane, Riddick, Agent 47, Kane, and others (to view the entire list, go to http://www.doubleviking.com/bullet-points-the-15-most-badass-bald-guys-7575-p.html). They also include a video or picture of each guy that they outline along with a funny little bit on why each guy is a badass. Here's what they say about John McClane:
"In the first Die Hard, he had some hair. In the second, he had a
little less. In the third, his hair seemed to be making a beeline for
the back of his skull, and the fourth it was gone altogether. He is
John McClane, and his head is far too badass to tolerate simple hair
follicles."
I'm always glad to see sites (especially big ones like DoubleViking.com) to put bald guys in a positive light. Can anyone think of more badass bald guys that weren't listed?
If you're anything like me and many other guys, there's always that one person you forget to get a gift for or you find out at the last minute that they will be at the gathering you're going to. You know there is going to be a gift exchange and you don't want to leave them out, but it's Christmas day, what do you do? Well, this is the beauty of the internet! Because of this wonderful invention we have things called "virtual gift cards" that you can buy and give that same day. Virtual gift cards allow you to buy the gift and email to them directly or to yourself to print out and put them in a card. Pretty cool, huh? You can stop sweating now...
Where do you get these virtual gift cards you ask? Well, many of the main department stores offer them, but those are often specific to a geographic region. Check the website of the department store in your area to see if they can. Or, if you don't know much about the person, you can always get them a card for one of the larger online stores that have millions of different products the can choose from. I've included some of the largest companies below so you don't have to go hunting for them.
Many of us guys have experienced the bathroom chatter. The guy that likes to strike up a conversation with you while you're handling your business at the urinal. If you've experienced this, you'll find this video to be funny or possibly a painful reminder of that awkward situation. If you haven't experienced this, it could be that your one of them. If so, this video will provide you with a little training on the proper etiquette in the bathroom.
