As most of you have seen, Yeti has had a huge involvement on the boards since he joined Sly Bald Guys. Yeti has an extensive background in security and enforcement, but he also has in depth experience in moderating forums. Because of this experience and his enthusiasm on the boards I've asked him to help me moderate the forum on Sly Bald Guys.

The forum will still be open to free discussion, but I need help in keeping the boards clean of spam and other posters willing to compromise the great community that we have here. I'm going to be travelling quite a bit in future months, so this is a great time to bring someone like Yeti on boark to help me out.

If any of you are interested in helping moderate Sly Bald Guys, please let me know as I will most likely need more help in the coming months.

A huge thank you to all of you that have helped make this site an awesome place to visit and a wonderful community to join.

holds its inaugural Bald Guys Bowling Tournament from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Frontier Lanes AMF Bowling Center, 7300 E. Thomas Road in Scottsdale.

I probably won’t attend the hair-raising fun, although I qualify. My hairlessness is temporary (as is my photo accompanying this installment of Our Scottsdale), the result of chemotherapy before my bone marrow transplant.

The event idea comes from the shiny noggin of Brian Hassett, the group’s president and a five-year melanoma survivor who also lost his hair during cancer treatment. Hassett and his daughter, Laura, 19, were talking about new ways to put a spin on Big Brothers Big Sisters’ fundraising events and heard “Take the Skinheads Bowling,” a song by Camper Van Beethoven.

“One thing led to another,” Brian Hassett said. “The more we talked ideas, the crazier it got. We’ve had bowling tournaments for kids for a long time and they’ve always been good for us. But, you do the same thing year after year and it gets a little tiring. We have a need for more men to be big brothers to many of the young boys on our list, so I thought this might help bring them in. It’s a little wacky and it just might get people off the couch.”

Anyone who is bald, balding or wants to be bald can attend the event. Sport Clips will be on hand to shave willing individuals’ heads and bald wigs will be provided for those who don’t want to shed their locks. Women are encouraged to wear their hair as large as possible to complement the men.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three five-member teams with the best overall two-game series. No handicaps will be used. Prizes will also go to winners of a bald celebrity look-alike contest. Names of the celebrities will be disclosed at the event.

“Being bald has become more fashionable,” Hassett said. “Besides haircuts, we have Head Blade (a popular head-shaving razor manufacturer) and a skin-care company on board. I’m milking this for all it’s worth.”

It’s worth plenty for a children’s charity offering a mentorship program to youth ages 6 to 15.

The nonprofit organization, recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who offer their time and guidance to children seeking a positive role model.

Hassett hopes to pack the place and, if an initial sign-up of 15 teams is any indication, he should be able to do so. Yet, there’s one wish Hassett probably won’t get.

“Larry Fitzgerald recently became a Big Brother,” Hassett said of the Arizona Cardinals’ dreadlocked receiver. “I’m trying to convince him to shave his head,” Hassett said with a chuckle. “I’ve been working on him but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.”

Prices for the tournament are $100 for a bald individual, $500 bald team of five, $1,000 bald lane sponsor, $1,700 extended forehead sponsor, $2,000 chrome dome sponsor and $3,000 head honcho sponsor.

Hey folks,

I'm trying to keep my sanity here in the midst of the "Blade wars". There's razors with four blades (Wilkinson Quattro),
with five (Gilette Fusion)...and Wilkinson announced an 8 blade behemoth the other day, called Octo...run for your life.

So, in these exciting times it's easy to overlook the little guys, the razors with "only" two blades. They too have the right to exist on the shelves, and justifiably so, as my review of the "Wilkinson Extra II" will show.

A couple of weeks ago I went shopping for razors once more. I was about to reach for my Extreme 3 (Wilkinson) disposable razors, when I encountered the "Wilkinson Extra II for men" on the shelves (in black plastic bag, see picture). Hm...10 razors for 3,30 EUR.
It was risky ("would they be good or would they turn my head into a bloody mess?"), but I took them home with me.

And good they were.

These razors have two blades and a strip with Aloe Vera and vitamin E. When I took them out of the packaging I noticed this little white nob/button on top (see pictures) - Wilkinson calls it the "unique push-clean bar".
When pushed it removes hair and foam between the two blades - a nice feature for a razor this cheap - and it works well in cleaning the razor when it gunks up.

The shave I got from this razor was just as close as the shave I get with my Extreme III razors, but it takes a little more effort to get the same result - which I don't mind. I cut myself once during shaving (but I always cut myself at least once with "any" razor), but the overall result was surprisingly good. You have to clean it more often during shaving (you can't shave the same area with one stroke as with the Extreme III or other more expensive multi-blade razors) as this razor is tiny compared to the 3 and 4 blade competition.

The grip is nice and it rests comfortably in your hand during shaving.

For 3,30 EUR you get 10 disposable razors that do a good job. What more could I ask for?

I recommend this razor to anyone who's gotten tired of buying expensive razors and having to use the same razor more than once as a result. Check it out and you might be pleasantly surprised.

For the performance freaks among you ("give me 4 blade razors or don't give me any at all..."), you may want to stick to your Mach 3, Quattro or Fusion. I don't think you will be satisfied with the Wilkinson Extra II. Because let's be honest: 4 blades shave better than 2 - I don't argue with that.

But for the rest of you, the Extra II is worth checking out. It's a cheap, disposable 2 blade razor that will give you a very close shave for very little money.

Wolkoff, who has been on the job 18 months, aims to restore some of the Amex's damaged reputation by improving oversight of his freewheeling brokers and specialists and buying technology to make trades more efficient. Yet to keep the exchange chugging along, he needs to find lots more listings, and that means not being too picky about listing qualifications. "We can't guarantee the honesty of a company or that they will succeed," says Wolkoff. "But we can forcefully monitor them."
