In the second, he had a
little less. In the third, his hair seemed to be making a beeline for
the back of his skull, and the fourth it was gone altogether. He is
John McClane, and his head is far too badass to tolerate simple hair
follicles."

I'm always glad to see sites (especially big ones like DoubleViking.com) to put bald guys in a positive light. Can anyone think of more badass bald guys that weren't listed?

These three things often go together. It's not a given, as I myself and several guys here at Sly Bald Guys don't have any piercings or tattoos, but several of the guys do. So, if you're one of those guys that do, feel free to check out the Tattoos and Piercings Board.

This is just an extreme example of how piercings and tattoos can go together with a shaved head.

1. Can I borrow your comb?
2. Damn, I am out of shampoo!
3. anybody have any hairspray?
4. Do you have the phone number for Hair Club for Men?
5. this wind/rain is messing up my hair!
6. Honey.....we need more hair gel!
7. hey honey.... where's the blowdryer?
8. Dude, I have lice!

One of our members, JDOG, posted a great post on his blog.

How many times have we seen them? 3am and burning the midnight oil and we all have flicked through the countless infomercials on television advertising and touting the new cure or solution to hair loss. Whether it be the magical hair brush that stimulates your hair folicles to regenerate or the shampoo and cream that when applied, will magically create new and flowing locks to make Rapunzel jealous. For years I have found these ads to be quite entertaining. Especially the "before" and "after" shots.

You've got 1 man, call him Peter. Peter is introduced and a birds eye view camera shot "before" picture is posted in the right hand corner of the screen showing a bald spot on the crown and a receding hairline on Peters head. Peter then starts to recite an obviously pre written monologue about how his life started to go downhill when he started loosing his hair. His wife didnt want to be with him sexually, he got teased by coworkers. His self esteem went out the window and he became a recluse and withdrew from friends because he was so embarrased about his hair loss. Read More

Is your man balding? Is it causing him grief or making him depressed? Looking for advice on how you can help him out?

I've polled some of the guys and here's the advice that have for you:

Don't make them feel like they are less loved / less attractive because of it. - One of their biggest fears is if they will seem less attractive to you because they are balding.

Discourage use of Rogaine and/or other drugs, toupees, transplants, Hairclub for men, etc. - These types of "remedies" only cause short term gratification or an empty wallet at best.

Communicate with him regarding his baldness/suggest experimenting with new hair styles - Suggest that he try a shorter hair style, such as a buzzed cut or shaved head. Even have him play with facial hair.

Be honest - If like a particular look on him, let him know. Don't force him to stay with that look as you should be supportive with his decision, but be honest when it comes to your preference.

See what more they have to say or ask them directly: Advice for a bald mans signigicant other
Tonight I saw a commercial about this show called The Great American Dream Vote and I'm not sure what I think. The show has two "contestants" that each have a dream and America gets to choose who gets to win their dream. So, why do I even mention this show? Well, one of the contestants has the following dream as described on ABC.com

Russ Jowell
Russ Jowell (1-877-I-VOTE-02)
Student, Forth Worth, TX
Dream: Wants a full head of hair again
At the age of 16, Russ started to lose his hair. Now at the age of 22, and a senior in college, he has had far from the average college experience. When he goes to college bars he is looked at like the old man trying to hit on girls 20 years younger than him. Russ wants nothing more than to have a full head of hair so he will be able to live the normal life of a 22-year-old.

Here's a pic of ol' Russ:

I can understand his dream, but I really don't think it's his hair that he really wants. I think it's the confidence that he seeks to have a "normal" life of a 22 year old and he thinks it's the hair that will provide this confidence. I'm genuinely worried that if his dream comes true that he's going to find that it's not going to give him the confidence he's looking for. Instead, every chick at his school is going to know he has plugs. Then, he's just going to be self conscious about his plugs and the cycle starts over again. I kinda wish for his sake that he doesn't win and instead tries shaving his head before trying plugs.

We all know that the Fusion blades cost almost as much as new tires for your car, ok that's a slight exaggeration, but they are expensive compared to other blades. So, for you Fusion lovers, I have found a service that will allow me to display eBay auctions for the Fusion Blades (and occasionally other blades) here on SBG. All you need to do is look to the bottom of the Forum pages to see 3 auctions that are going on at any given time. Everytime you go to a new page or refresh the page it will rotate auctions. You can also go to the SBG Store to see auctions on various blades - Sly Bald Guys Store

I hope this helps you save some cash on your razors.

If you want to go to check out eBay for auctions on the blades that you use, here are some links to different auctions:
....to the call of the tanning bed!

I'm a proud Sly Guy, but my day job as a cancerbuster compels me to strongly discourage anyone from going out and deliberately trying to tan the dome at a tanning salon.

Moreover....with Spring and Summer just around the corner...if you're going to be out in the full-strength sun, ALWAYS wear sunscreen; at least SPF 30-45, applied liberally and often. However, I should advise you that the ONLY PROVEN way of preventing skin cancer is SUN AVOIDANCE, so don't forget to wear a hat as well.

The incidence of skin cancer continues to escalate, and the naked scalp is one of the most vulnerable regions for UV-induced skin damage, which can lead to malignancy. This is especially dangerous if you already have some pigmented lesions (moles) up there.

Don't forget: a "suntan" is the body's way of telling you that you're overdosing on UV. By the time you have a "sunburn", the damage has already been done.

Skin cancer is very preventable. Don't take any chances; life is too short as it is - you don't want to do anything to end it prematurely. And believe me, malignant melanoma is BAD news. By the time it's diagnosed, it's often already metastasized. And the cure rate for that stage is virtually ZERO.

Be Sly, but be smart.

I'm sure none of the below has gone unsaid, but I thought I'd gather it here in one place since a lot of guys cite the subject of this thread as a reason not to go sly.

While I was just shaving my head in the shower, I was thinking about how I used to tell myself the same thing. But an idea hit me - most guys think that they can't pull it off because of the SLY mystique, as I call it. A sly guy is not only a bald guy, but a bald guy with confidence about being bald. No one really notices anyone without confidence, but a confident person attracts attention. And a SLY guy attracts even more. Hence, the sly mystique. Sly guys would look good with or without a bald head! The liberating act of going bald brings about the confidence that truly makes a man sly.

So, if you're sitting on the fence, jump to our side.

Besides, have you ever heard a woman say any of the following?
- "I sure love a man with a comb-over"
- "There's nothing sexier than a man with a receding hairline"
- "I love it when a man looks like a slob because he doesn't have time to style his hair"

I doubt you have! Plenty of women dig a smooth head. And those that don't are only waiting to meet a man with one. Ask any woman what she finds sexy in a man, and you'll hear "confidence" a hell of a lot more often than "the hair that the guy in the Rogaine commercial has." Or "a nice toupee" or even just a plain ol' "nice hair."

The day I decided that I would shave my head was the day I saw one of my superiors at a large conference. In my field, you have to be bold and confident. But he spoke meekly, didn't assert himself, and as he stood under a light in the room, his comb-over was fully on display for 200 people to see - to be unable to ignore. I don't mean to shame him. But it was obvious that he wasn't confident in himself and the comb-over was the neon lighting framing it all. Enough neon to make Vegas blush. He's always conveyed himself as a man angry with himself and his personal life, come to think of it. He's a man that could use a HeadBlade, even if he had the hair.

So, to summarize - you WILL look good with a shaved head, because you will be more confident in yourself! You will carry yourself like a man that has nothing to hide, and just to prove it, is willing to put it on display. So go shave it.
Are you a head shaver? Thinking of shaving your head?

Sometimes it can be intimidating to try to figure out the best routine to shave your head. Well, look no further! We have an awesome thread going on that details all of the Sly Bald Guys' routines when it comes to shaving their head.

Do they go front to back, or back to front? In the shower or in front of the sink? Which razor they use. Which shaving cream or gel they use? And what to do when the head shaving is complete. All the answers are here in this thread: Head Shaving Routines

I hope this helps you decide what is the best way for you to shave your head!
